Tendai and White Dove went to Great Forks with a caravan of people. While the mortals traded in the city the two exalted explored the library in Tendai’s manse. White Dove keeps running across references to other books that may hold detailed knowledge of their manses. The books seem to be named after each manse.
Tendai absorbed the information about building warstriders while White Dove investigated their manses.
Back in Nathir, Vashtim and Atash were being pushed by Shiga to attack the fair folk and destroy one of their flanks. Just as they were getting ready to start the attack a small old woman busted into the dining hall and began yelling about the circle not being complete. She was asking where the 5th member was. When Atash told her that Zaiku was not with them she freaked out. She scolded Shiga and told him that nothing was certain anymore. That she was never wrong before. She was scared now. She left to consult the oracles.
Shiga seems to have taken the news more seriously than anyone else. He commented that his victory was a sure thing. That is why he was going out and attacking the fair folk army recklessly. Now he is worried.
Idel is constantly watching Shiga and finally she confronts him. The group gets nervous and leaves them alone.
Vashtim decides to ask the 54 mercenaries he brought back from Nexus to go find a very important door in his manse. The questioned him and found out it was a vault. So they agreed to go out looking for it. Vashtim then asked his gladiators to train the 5000 farmers and merchants. They all went into the barracks and split up the force to begin training. Atash demanded that she train some people. Magnus reluctantly agreed. He did not feel that a female pirate could train anyone. Atash took 5 people (a 12 year old, a 16 year old, two larger ladies and a man in his late 30’s) and began training them. At the end of the day they attained one dot in Melee.
Vashtim decided to look around his manse for his vault. He discovered his library instead. Vashitm told Bubastis to find someone and bring them back. Bubastis ran back. In the meantime, Tendai and White Dove returned to Nathir and were discussing treating the soldiers to make them more proficient. Suddenly a large cat slid past them and flopped on the ground. Bubastis went up to Tendai and pushed him a few times then took his arm and began to pull him. Once Tendai began to follow, Bubastis ran ahead to the library. Tendai and White Dove looked around. White Dove discovered the manual of the manse and showed it to Vashtim. Wherein he found his vault and a docking bay of warstriders. 6 common, 8 Noble and 3 Royal warstriders. The group went off to inspect them. While en route they decided to find the vault first which was located under the docking bay.
When they arrived they found 6 of the mercenaries in front of the doors to the vault. Little do they know that 6 others are missing, 24 are wounded from the defenses in the manse and 19 are unhurt but wandering around aimlessly.
Vashtim looked in the manual to see how to open his vault. He placed his hands on the doors and pushed essence into them. Two large faces made of black onyx rose up from the three story doors and began speaking in a First Age language that no one could understand. Vashtim’s eyes suddenly began pouring out light and he spoke back in the same language. He stated his name and title in the first age and then his current name. With that he began to sink into the doors as if they were liquid. On the other side he lit up his cast mark to find a cavernous place filled with Jade, jewels and gold. He picked up a brick of green jade and a brick of blue jade and returned. He handed the blue jade to the mercenaries for payment and turned to lock his vault.
Everyone went back to the training area and Vashtim paid Mangnus off and offered him a job as viceroy and he declined but he did suggest that Ovid be asked. Magnus will contact him the next time a convoy goes to Nexus.
Dinner was served and near the end a small girl approached White Dove and asked when her daddy would be returning from Great Forks. Upon further investigation White Dove discovered that the returning group dropped all the belongings and left the manse. Someone saw the group split off into groups of 5 as they left the inner island. There were 29 of them. All of the people that left this morning did not come back. There were 17 of them.
The group decided to bring all the residents into the manse and screen them for the outsiders. As they started to head out to find everyone. Vashtim consulted his book of the manse and discovered that there is a system for announcing to the city. He decided to give it a go. They made their way all the way to the top of his central manse and there was a chamber with a small dais and several horns facing outward. With a few motes of essence invested into the room a huge image of Vashitm appeared above the manse and all around the city on the walls facing inward. Vashtim announced who he was and that everyone was to move into the manse until the siege was over.
800 people arrived in the manse over the next 24 hours. White Dove questioned everyone entering with a charm that detected if they were telling the truth. No one was lying about using the portal yesterday.
The group decided to go to The House of Ten Flowers and talk to Botai first.
On their way there they began hearing a buzzing sound and as they followed it they came upon the House of Ten Flowers under attack from Sylvestres. Botai was standing out front throwing prayer slips at the swarm which exploded into a fiery ball when they got close.
